About Tom Glaser

Tom is a Licensed Psychologist who has provided individual, couples, and group counseling and therapy since 1986.  He received his Masters degree in Community Counseling from Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN.  With a background in management, personal and business coaching, and teaching,  he now practices primarily in Minneapolis, MN.

In addition to his Tuesday night Group for Men and Women, Tom sees clients individually, supervises mental health professionals, and teaches classes on many topics, including assertiveness, reducing anxiety, handling change, and optimism.  His most recent class, Your Happiness Project, combines elements from some of his favorites: Positive Psychology, Emotional Intelligence, Resilience Theory, Mindfulness Training, and more.

"Tom and I collaborated on wellness events for students at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.  Through trial and variety, we developed a series of events and projects that engaged students and brought serious wellness awareness.  And they were fun.  So was working with Tom! He is truly a joy.  And as an advisor to students, I heard many times how loved he was and how grateful students were about his presence on campus.  I too am grateful, for in working with him as a colleague, we developed a wonderful friendship; always something to be thankful for!"     ~Elizabeth Van Dam, former coworker and collaborator

A fan of lifelong learning, Tom has studied crisis response, EMDR, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy.  He has also studied Buddhism for over 15  years, which informs both his work and the way he lives his life.  While he enjoys working with all types of people, he finds a special place in his heart for those with active spiritual lives, creative individuals, and members and allies of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.

Tom is also an enthusiastic and vibrant volunteer.  Here are a few organizations to which he has donated time:

Beginning in late September, 2010, Tom will be volunteering with the University of Minnesota's Center for Spirituality & Healing, helping lead a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course. http://www.csh.umn.edu/programs/Mindfulness_Based_Stress_Reduction_MBSR/...
